Payment & Insurance

At PEIdoctor.com, all services are private-pay and payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in advance. We are not affiliated with Health PEI for billing purposes, and we do not bill provincial health plans. Again, these consultations are outside the public plan, no claims will be submitted to Health PEI (or any reciprocal provincial-government plan). This is worth restating: our service is a 100% private-pay service. Patients pay the full fee directly. No services are billed to Health PEI or any other provincial health insurance plan. Physicians providing care through PEIDoctor.com do not submit claims to the public plan for these consultations. Patients are not eligible for reimbursement from Health PEI or their home province’s government health plan. This service operates outside the provincial health insurance plan. PEIDoctor.com is an administrative coordination service for visitors and tourists to PEI only. It is not a substitute for public primary care or emergency services. We do provide to you a receipt in full.

Private Insurance

We do provide to you a receipt in full stating the physicians (doctors) name and doctors details.  As a courtesy, we may be able to submit eligible claims to certain private insurance providers (this is not assured) or provide the documentation you need to submit your claim yourself - please be fully prepared to submit your own claim personally with your private insurance provider.

Please note:

Insurance coverage is not guaranteed

Coverage varies by provider, plan, policy terms, and patient eligibility

Not all services, providers, or visit types are eligible for reimbursement

Some plans may reimburse only a portion of the total visit cost

Some plans may require the patient to pay first and claim later

Patient Responsibility

The patient is fully responsible for all charges related to their visit.

If private insurance does not pay, only pays partially, or later denies a claim for any reason, the patient remains responsible for the full outstanding balance.

Direct Billing (When Available)

If direct billing is available and successfully processed:

the insurer may pay the covered portion directly, and

the patient is responsible for any remaining balance, including:

deductibles

co-payments

excluded services

plan limits

non-covered amounts

Any balance owing may be charged to the payment method provided at booking, or invoiced to the patient for immediate payment.

Credit Card on File

To secure an appointment, patients may be required to keep a valid credit card on file.

This card may be used only for:

authorized visit charges

unpaid balances

missed appointment fees (if applicable)

insurance shortfalls or denied claims, where agreed in advance

Receipts

A detailed receipt will be provided after the visit for personal records or insurance submission, where applicable.

Important Note

The patient is responsible for confirming their own insurance coverage, benefits, and reimbursement eligibility and for submitting their own claims.

Legal Compliance Statement

PEIDoctor provides private, 100% privately paid medical services exclusively to tourists/visitors and to key operational personnel in the tourism industry.

We do not compete with, provide an alternative to, or operate as a second tier alongside Health PEI (the public health system). We do not engage in blended billing, extra-billing, or any practice that could affect publicly insured services. All services are fully private pay and legally permitted under applicable Canadian and PEI regulations for non-residents and private-pay arrangements. Our focus is supporting the tourism sector by offering timely, private medical care to an underserved market segment—visitors and critical tourism workers—who require convenient access without impacting the public system. We do not offer long-term or ongoing primary health care. This service is designed to complement tourism operations and visitor needs while remaining fully compliant with all provincial and federal health regulations.

Important to Know: We Keep Things Separate for Good Reasons:

Primary Care Scope and Limitations: Our primary care services are provided by our team of family physicians as independent contractors and cover the full range of standard primary healthcare needs. Please note the following important limitations:

• These services do not include critical or emergency care. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
• These services do not include clinical psychiatric care, mental health prescribing, or other specialized medical services (such as cardiology, neurology, dermatology, etc.).

We are happy to assist with routine primary care concerns, preventive health, acute non-emergency illnesses, minor injuries, prescriptions for primary care conditions, and general health guidance tailored to our patients’ needs. If you require services outside this scope, we will gladly help direct you to the appropriate local or specialist resources.

• Our skill-building sessions are purely educational—not therapy.
• Our dispute resolution work stands apart from both skill-building and any therapeutic services. It differs in purpose, scope, and duration from counseling or therapy.
• If therapy or other professional supports are appropriate, we refer out to qualified specialists. These remain entirely separate services.

This structure helps ensure clarity, appropriate boundaries, and the most effective support for each client’s specific needs. These elements and all of our work together in dispute resolution are strictly educational and non-therapeutic in nature. They are limited in scope, duration, and depth, and are provided solely to support constructive conflict resolution within the context of mediation and dispute resolution services. Important clarification: EndWell Management Inc. does not provide psychological therapy, counseling, mental health treatment, diagnosis, or any form of professional psychological services. We are not psychologists, therapists, or mental health practitioners, and nothing we offer constitutes therapy or substitutes for it. Our role is limited to facilitating conflict resolution, mediation, and practical, educational support. If at any point you feel you need therapeutic support, deeper emotional processing, or clinical mental health services, we will gladly provide a referral to an appropriate licensed professional (such as a registered psychologist or therapist).
